Fernery and Finery
My cousin sent me a better scan of William and Amelia's wedding photo, (before Ackholt aka Misery farm) . He commented, unfairly, I thought, that you wouldn't want to meet any of our male relatives on a dark night. Can now see that granny is not wearing a ridiculously huge bridal headdress, as here. Her bouquet seems carcinogenic if not eccentric, but perhaps a fern bouquet was fashionable in 1904- on the otherhand the enlarged photo shows a clump of ferns by the wall. It's odd how shabby the men's suits are- clearly a wedding was not for them an occasion for new finery.
